Journal of Multidisciplinary Research in Business and Technology is the University of Nizwa’s peer-reviewed journal for business and technology studies.
The University of Nizwa is the sole body in charge of publishing the Journal of Multidisciplinary Research in Business and Technology.
Objectives of the Journal:
- Encouraging academics, researchers, and graduate students to conduct and publish research.
- Providing a platform for the publication of academic research papers for researchers, academics, and students from research institutions and universities within and outside Oman.
- Offering a platform for researchers, academics, and students within and outside Oman to stay updated with refereed and high-quality research.
The journal accepts submissions from all researchers/authors within the University of Nizwa and beyond.
Areas of Publishing and Their Sections in the Journal:
- Research Papers: New and groundbreaking research papers from researchers worldwide, including those from M.A. and Ph.D. candidates.
- Book Reviews: The journal publishes constructive and critical reviews of recent publications within its thematic scope.
- Thesis Reviews: Reviews of university-level M.A. and Ph.D. theses that contribute new knowledge within the journal’s thematic focus.
- Reports: Coverage of academic gatherings such as conferences, seminars, and exhibitions related to the journal’s scope.
Language of the Journal:
The journal is published in English, ensuring broad accessibility to the global research community.
Publishing of the Journal and Its Issues:
The journal is published biannually, with issues released in February and September. Special issues may also be published to cover significant conferences or seminars.
Publication Type:
The Journal of Multidisciplinary Research in Business and Technology is published electronically via its dedicated website. Hardcopy versions may also be produced as decided by the management.
Publishing Law:
The journal complies with the publishing laws of the Sultanate of Oman and follows the regulations of the University of Nizwa.
Regulatory Council of the Journal:
The regulatory council of the journal consists of:
- The Chancellor of the University
- The Vice Chancellor for Higher Studies, Research, and External Liaison
- The Director of the relevant research center
Functions of the Regulatory Council:
- Defining the general framework for the journal.
- Overseeing the journal’s operation through reports submitted by the Director of the relevant research center.
- Approving recommendations and suggestions for the journal’s development.
Supervision of the Journal:
The journal is supervised by the Director of the relevant research center, who ensures that the publication aligns with the university’s vision, mission, and objectives.
Duties of the Supervisor:
- Implementing the university’s vision and mission regarding scientific journals.
- Overseeing the general supervision of the journal.
- Developing the journal and ensuring its inclusion in international scientific networks and databases.
- Reporting to the Regulatory Council about the journal’s functioning.
- Recommending appointments for the Chief Editor and Editorial Board members.
- Monitoring the Chief Editor’s work and publication progress.
The Chief Editor:
The Chief Editor is selected from the academic faculty of the University of Nizwa, specializing in one of the areas relevant to the journal. The appointment is ratified by the Chancellor for a two-year renewable term.
Duties of the Chief Editor:
- Leading the development of the journal and enhancing its status among refereed scientific publications.
- Reporting to the Director about the publication process, challenges, and suggestions for improvement.
- Coordinating the formation of the Editorial Board and selection of peer reviewers.
- Overseeing the submission and review process of research articles.
- Supervising the editing and publication of accepted articles.
The Editorial Director:
The Editorial Director assists the Chief Editor in managing the editorial process. The appointment is approved by the Regulatory Council and is valid for a two-year renewable term.
Duties of the Editorial Director:
- Assisting the Chief Editor with editorial responsibilities.
- Acting as Chief Editor when necessary.
- Supporting the development of the journal and ensuring its smooth functioning.
- Overseeing the journal’s website to ensure efficient operation.
The Editorial Board:
The Editorial Board consists of faculty members with expertise in the journal’s focus areas. Members are appointed for two-year terms and contribute to the peer-review process.
Duties of the Editorial Board:
- Ensuring the quality of submissions and managing the review process.
- Verifying the originality and relevance of research articles.
- Reviewing and providing feedback on peer reviewers’ comments.
- Approving or rejecting submissions based on a majority vote.
Consultative Committee:
The journal has a consultative committee composed of faculty members, researchers, and publishers from Oman and beyond, who contribute to the advancement of the journal.
The Reviewers and Arbitration:
Submitted research articles are subjected to a rigorous peer-review process to ensure high academic standards. Referees are chosen based on their expertise, and in case of conflicting decisions, a third referee is consulted. Each referee is compensated for their work.
Editorial Coordinator:
The Editorial Coordinator manages the submission process, communicating with authors and referees to ensure timely publication. This role involves working closely with the Chief Editor and Editorial Director.
Coordinator of Public Relations:
The Public Relations Coordinator manages the journal’s external communications and works with the Marketing and Media Department on design and production matters.
Language Editor:
The Language Editor ensures that accepted articles meet the journal’s language standards and are prepared for publication in English.
Electronic System of the Journal:
The University of Nizwa’s Information Systems Center manages the journal’s online platform, ensuring efficient access and technical support for users.
Design and Technical Production of the Journal:
The Marketing and Media Department is responsible for the journal’s design and technical production, ensuring that all published material meets professional standards.
Publishing Fees:
There are no fees for submitting or publishing research papers in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Research in Business and Technology. It is a free publication, supporting open-access research dissemination.
